For any of you graduating seniors who have exhibited or participated in FTC events at the San Diego County Fair in previous years, there are Don Diego scholarships available. Deadline for applications is midnight March 20. http://dondiegoscholarship.org/scholarships/ The movie "Dream Big" begins this Friday at the Fleet Science Center. Three teams advancing to the West Super-Regional: 9441 Syndicate, 10092 Green.Griffins, and 4216 Rise of Hephaestus were on FOX5 morning news today with Fredi LajVardi to help promote the screening of this STEM/robotics film.
Good luck to our champion teams this weekend in Tacoma for FTC West Super-Regional! I'm still looking for a few more teams to demo and a field for Friday and Saturday March 10 & 11 for the FTC Demo at the FRC Regional "FIRST Steamworks" game at Del Mar Fairgrounds. It would be great to get two teams at a time for: 10-4 Friday and 8-12 Saturday Thank you to those that have volunteered for the FTC Demo so far:
I also need an FTC field preferably for the whole event. Can be setup anytime after 6PM on Wed and taken down at Noon on Saturday. There is plenty of room to set up any pit display or anything you want. We are located at the pit entry along with the college and sponsor tables, plenty of visibility. Should be a decent view of the FRC game as well. No meals are planned. There will be concession food available or you can bring your own. There may be even some opportunity to rotate in for a shift doing field reset for FRC on Friday. That's a lot of fun! I can provide one parking pass per team. Reply back with your availability, and I'll get you the parking pass. Thank you, Dan Glenn DanGlenn2050@gmail.com Chairman, San Diego FRC Regional Planning Committee Green.Griffins; 10092 http://www.sandiegoregional.com/ Fleet Science Center has invited us to see a FREE preview screening of Dream Big: Engineering Our World. It will be Monday, March 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Fleet Science Center. The film will be introduced by one of its stars, Fredi Lajvardi. Fredi is the program director for the Marine Science Magnet Program at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, AZ, and the leader of the Falcon Robotics Team. The team has received worldwide recognition after winning MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education), a nation-wide underwater robotics competition, besting college teams from schools like Harvard and MIT. They now also compete in FIRST. Here is the link to RSVP for the preview: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/special-sneak-peek-screening-of-dream-big-tickets-32193332123 More info about the film is available here: http://www.rhfleet.org/shows/dream-big As of Friday, there are still about 100 registration spots left so tell your friends and anyone else who might be interested.
